Invading The Latest Adventure The Muhamba Times interview 'Legend of Sid' about their latest musical work called 'The Invader Adventures' to find out what they have in store for us next. You have just completed two albums in a very short space of time 'The Green Album' and 'The Sprout Headed Replicant' firstly, how did you achieve this in such a short space of time? LoS: Well we were saying we wanted to record some songs for a few years and had already gathered some ideas together based on some characters we have worked with in recent years and also a few incidents that have occurred which sometimes involved these characters. It was then just a case of actually getting some music together to go with some of the words we had already gathered, once we started recording though we found that ideas kept flowing to the point where we had 2 albums of material ready before we knew it! Could you tell us what some of these songs are about and give us the low-down on these characters of which you speak? LoS: Well from the green album; 'Y-Babe Mosh' is about a kid we know, referred to as Metalrock by his friends at a local rock nightclub called 'Spiders' he held a house party in which a large number of Goth and stoner rockers from this nightclub were in attendance, as well as a few of my friends. We (Legend of Sid) did not attend this house party however, but we did hear all about it. Apparently Metalrock got a bit drunk and removed some of his clothing stating to the crowd in attendance that he was Jean Claude Van Damme and proceeded to mosh. It was whilst he was in full mosh that he thought it would be a good idea to run and jump up onto a Marshall amplifier which was on top of a chest of drawers he hung onto it a bit too long though and it all collapsed and landed on top of him causing him various injuries....all really quit bizarre! but that's our guy Metalrock, party animal!!! 'It's Green' was actually the last song to be recorded for 'The Green Album' as we decided the album gave false pretensions as to the content of it's greenness we thought we would have to put a song in their where we would see how many times we could say the word green, to make up for the lack of green on the rest of the album and thereby, hopefully balance the whole thing out, and also see how many things which are green we could list! How many times do you say the word green in 'It's Green'? LoS: we do believe it is 50 times Anyway, 'Tony Is A Scientist' which is one of our most popular tracks is a song about a kid called Tony who we worked with, who is possibly the most arrogant person we have ever met, we simply don't like him.....in fact nobody does! He also demanded a new pair of shoes of Ken once and tells people he's got a degree when he hasn't to get more respect of people. 'Letter To Bobby Blakes' is actually a real letter which Ken wrote to a guy at work who was stalking his younger sister we have disguised his real name just in case one of his fellow co-workers should hear it! Crushing The Rebellion is about a bossy Chinese girl called Susan who crushed the uprising of her underlings and rose to awesome amounts of power. Bossy Susan's demise is about a few of her underlings and their dreams of killing her off! Crackerjack Blues is song in the first person perspective of a guy called Pat who is pretty much an alcoholic and turns in to work drunk most days and thinks everyone is a crackerjack! His favourite dish is Belly Pork and he is a right cowboy whilst going about his job! Although he spends most of his time reading his paper in the tea room! 80's Pink T-Shirt is about a guy called Jon who is a throwback from the 80's who came to work wearing a pink t-shirt one day, he drives a crappy old 80's sports car. Bare back Betty & The Family Man is about our mate Dean and his girlfriend Betty who likes to ride bare back! This yummy mummy ensnared Deano and made him her family man which was quit a feat to tame this rampant little bugger, although there are signs he maybe breaking free of his programming as he is currently on a months holiday in Thailand as a sex tourist! So how is the third album 'The Invader Adventures' going and what can we expect? LoS: It's not going too bad actually although we are a little bit behind our personal goal of finishing it for Christmas! We have currently recorded five songs and reckon there is another ten to go. There is a song called 'Talking Grease, Talking Grime' which was one of Legend of Sid's favourite sayings in the early days and thought it was a good title for a song about the governments control over our daily lives and the fact that political correctness has gone mad in this country so we are no longer free to say what we think without reprisals and the fact that this country is a joke, it practically rolls over to have it's belly tickled by other nations in this modern age.....we have truly lost the greatness which this empire once stood for! Anyway that's enough of that, I'm starting to rant! 'Where Your Scribbles Lie in Secret Notebooks' is just a daft song about secret diaries, it's just lunacy really! 'A Bear Named Mo' is a song inspired by recent events in the news 'Four Foot Fez' is the one we are really exited about, it was a concept dreamed up by clem's crazy Doctor Bingo as a kind of dual project! Just going on the title Four Foot Fez, Legend of Sid and clem will both independently record a song called Four Foot Fez and never hearing each others version will film Ken walking down a busy shopping street wearing a Four Foot Fez (currently under construction) with camera's inside the hat looking forwards and backwards to capture the expressions on peoples faces at the wonderful sight of a man wearing a Four Foot Fez! The footage will then be used by both clem and Legend of Sid to make a music video for both versions of the song, these videos will then be posted and both websites for the world to see!!! We are exited to see what both music videos are like and weather there are any similarities given that there was just the working to title to go with! We think 'The Invader Adventures' will have a different sound to the first two albums although there is still a lot of stuff to be recorded so we will have to see, instrument wise though, we are trying to get more keyboards into this albums and not rely on the use of guitars quite as much as the first two albums! We also generally want to have more fun and silliness on this third release as well, we try not to take ourselves too seriously at the best of times, this should lower the tone down to a whole other level! What you have to remember is that clem were the original inspiration for Legend of Sid and if they have taught you anything, it's that when it comes to music, you cant even expect the unexpected and that anything goes! We here at Legend of Sid try to employ these ideologies into our way of recording, but when we start recording we often find the recording session takes on a life of it's own and goes off into it's own little land of make believe! Finally, thank you guys for taking time out of your busy recording schedule to talk to us and can you give us an idea of when 'The Invader Adventures' will Be finished? LoS: The original plan was to be completed by Christmas but it now looks like it'll be sometime in January or possibly February but it all depends on when our glorious manager Sid allows us time off from washing his dishes and doing things around his shack to give us time in the studio, and of course he needs to make sure his moped is fixed so he can make his way down to personally oversee our work!
